Ben Gibson MSc - Clinic Owner

Hi,

I’m Ben, the owner and lead Sports Therapist here at BG Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation. I am a dedicated sports therapist with a decade of experience helping both sporting and non-sporting individuals recover from injuries, improve performance, and help to prevent future setbacks.

As the founder of BG Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation in Northampton, I specialise in hands-on treatments, rehabilitation programs, and strength training techniques tailored to each client’s needs.

Just a little bit about me, I studied a bachelor of sciences (with honours) at the University of Northampton for 3 years, after which I went on to obtain my masters of sciences in 2015. Within that time I also completed level 2 (gym instructing) and level 3 (personal training qualification). As someone with lower back pain (I know, the irony right) I am incredibly passionate about pre/ rehabilitation. With that being said we are in the process of becoming an APPI Pilates instructor with level 1 and level 2 already achieved we are planning to complete the trilogy this year!

Having worked in different clinics and various football clubs over the last 10 years I have gain valuable knowledge through treating over 2000+ patients in that time so whether you’re an athlete, weekend warrior, or just looking to move pain-free, I’m here to support your journey.

Let’s work together to get you stronger, healthier, and back to doing what you love!

Jemma Whyley BSc (Hons) - Sports Therapist

Hello,

I graduated from Birmingham City University in 2021 with a degree in Sports Therapy, and ever since, I’ve been passionate about helping people recover from injuries, move better, and feel stronger in their bodies. My journey into this profession began after experiencing a knee injury myself. Going through rehab gave me a real appreciation for the science behind recovery, particularly the process of tissue healing and how structured rehabilitation can completely transform someone’s quality of life.

In my practice, I focus on injury assessmenttreatment, and manual therapy—including sports massage—to relieve pain, improve mobility, and support healing. I also specialise in gym-based rehabilitation, working closely with clients to build tailored exercise programs that are both effective and empowering. Whether you’re new to rehab or already training, I’ll meet you where you’re at and guide you step by step.

Outside the clinic, I hold football coaching qualifications and have worked pitch side with a range of football clubs across Northamptonshire. This hands-on experience in the fast-paced sports environment has helped me understand how to manage injuries under pressure and design sport-specific treatment plans that get players safely back on the field.

I’m passionate about helping people return to the activities they love—whether that’s sport, gym training, or just everyday life—feeling confident and pain-free. If you’re looking for someone who understands the recovery process from both a personal and professional perspective, I’m here to support you.

Katie How MSc - Physiotherapist

Hey,

My name is Katie, and I’m a passionate physiotherapist with a strong academic background and a real love for helping people get back to doing what they love. I graduated with honours in 2024 from the University of Worcester with a degree in Physiotherapy. Following this, I pursued further education and completed my master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Nottingham.

Throughout my studies and clinical experience, I’ve developed a particular interest in musculoskeletal conditions, neurological rehabilitation, and sports injury management. I’m especially enthusiastic about working in sporting environments, where I support athletes through every stage of their recovery — from the initial injury, right through to returning to full performance. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone regain their strength, confidence, and passion for their sport.

My approach to physiotherapy is both individualised and holistic. I believe that no two people are the same, and so I create tailored exercise programmes and treatment plans based on each person’s unique needs, goals, and lifestyle. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a long-term condition, or simply looking to move better and feel stronger, I aim to support you every step of the way.

I’m really looking forward to welcoming you into the clinic and working together on your journey toward recovery and improved wellbeing!

Isaac Cherrington BSc (Hons) - Physiotherapist

Hiya,

I’m Isaac, a recent physiotherapy graduate from University College Birmingham, and I am committed to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery and optimal physical health.

My journey into this field began during my placement at Coventry City FC’s academy, where I worked alongside expert physiotherapists, supporting young athletes in their recovery and injury prevention. Working with the players at the academy, I quickly saw how much of a difference a tailored rehab plan can make, not just in the recovery process but in building strength and resilience. That experience inspired me to pursue a career in sports-based physiotherapy. Since then, I have dedicated myself to creating treatments that focus on recovery, injury prevention, and improving long-term physical health.

Outside of the clinic, I’m passionate about fitness myself, whether it’s running, tennis, golf or strength training. I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new areas.

I am enthusiastic about helping people get back to their best, whether that’s pushing yourself in the gym, returning to sport, or simply being able to enjoy daily activities without pain.
